The print division of Menace Publishing & Manufacture produces books, zines, and comics with something for every audience. The interests, subjects, styles and attitudes presented in our current publications are already diverse ... but we're planning on becoming even more broad-based as time goes on.

The Zines

Both of our current zine (short for magazine, if you're unfamilar with the term, we encourage you to do a word search on any search engine and read up on it) titles are published quarterly. We've got plans to launch another title later this year, a literary zine called Smart. Interested contributors should check out our guidelines.

	Universal Citizen can be read like a user's manual for life. With articles, essays, reviews and creative non-fiction for people who think too much, too little, or just enough. Click on the logo at left for a sample.

The Books

Though our current inventory of in print and scheduled titles is poetry and short fiction heavy, we plan on publishing several non-fiction books, novels, and books of photo-journalism within the next year.

Toilet, by Tom Woolley. A collection of intimate, bracing, open and unflinching short fiction. This title has a MP&M web site dedicated to it; click on the title above or the cover graphic to the left to go there. This book is now on sale in bookstores coast-to-coast.

Between Absolutes, poetry by David Hunter Sutherland. Intricate, subtle, and complex are words that apply to this accomplished poet's work. This collection of haunting and substantial works will prove to be a memorable and durable experience. Fifty Ways. 50 poems, 50 photographs, by Tricia Fifty, the first such collection of her work. Experiencing this book is like spending a week with the author and benefiting from the sharpness of her perceptions and her keen poetic sense. A catalog of feelings and memories. Oatmeal Sandwich, a collection of poetry by Kenneth L. Arneson. A Robert Frost for urban dwellers at the turn of the 21st Century, Ken combines poignant insight, a razor wicked sense of humor, and a corporeal relevance that promises to make Oatmeal Sandwich a favorite. His first published collection. The initial print run of this book has been sold out, and will be reprinted soon. Check back for frequent updates.

We also produce books that are internal illiterati projects, largely written by illiterati or MP&M staff. These books, all grouped together under the name Red Letter Imprints, can contain essays, creative or straight-forward non-ficton, poetry, fiction, photojournalism and more. Usually thematic or built around a unifying concept, from work to play, sex to religion, childhood to death. While composed around a central theme, they can contain almost any kind of work that relates to that theme. As this on-line catalog increases, selections will be rotated on a regular basis. Current Projects

The Misplaced Dead. Almost everyone has come across a small, forgotten graveyard in some incongruous or obscure place. This project delves into the history of these forlorn pockets of forgotten souls, bygone lives, and misplaced dead. This book is still in production, and a publication date will be released soon. 	Sixteen Tons. Whether it brings satisfaction, torment, or nothing more than a paycheck every couple of weeks, the majority of us will spend most of our lives working. This project presents creative non-fiction, interviews, and photojournalism inspired by or relating directly to work and working. This book is still in production, and a publication date will be released soon. Check back for frequent updates.
	MOMMY! Focused on childhood trauma, this chapbook presents true stories of the torments we face before we're old enough to do much about it. When you think about it, the everyday life of a child can be surpassingly brutal -- when was the last time an older colleague threw rocks at you as you waited for the bus? This book is still in production, and a publication date will be released soon. Check back for frequent updates.
	Do Not Operate Heavy Machinery. Whether you've only tipped back the occasional bottle of beer or are proud of the fact that you can make a bong out of anything, you'll be represented in this project, which deals with drugs and alcohol. Hilarious "stick of butter" munchie stories, getting caught (by cops, bosses, landlords or parents), and a piece that deals with the terror and pain of overdose.
